What is a home inspection?

A home inspection is a non-invasive examination of a home’s structure and systems, including plumbing, electrical work, heating, and cooling systems, water, and sewage. The inspector will also examine the structure for signs of insect, fire, or water damage. The inspector will assess the property’s condition and deliver a report detailing the findings.

A home inspection can be a deciding factor on whether to purchase the home. It is not the same as an appraisal that the lender requires to determine the value of a mortgage.

He was thorough in his inspection, great with communication, and the inspection report was easy to follow.  It was color coded to understand what items needed to be addressed versus just monitored, so it was really helpful so that we could take care of all items needing attention. Through his on-site comments and observations, as well as his detailed report, he demonstrated a level of proficiency and expertise that I have seldom seen in his profession.  I was able to use his findings as guidance for making all necessary mitigations and repairs to present to prospective buyers as the true authority for the condition of the house. Jeff first inspected our home a few years ago when we were buying it, and we asked him to come back after a remodel because we had such a good experience the first time. He was really nice, thorough, and patient in walking through all aspects of the home with us. He also helped us diagnose a bathroom water leak that came up after the remodel. It was not obvious at first, but even after the inspection, he kept thinking about the issue and came back with another idea to help us troubleshoot it.
